A Sextant for a Logo?

For centuries, the sextant has been an invaluable tool for travelers to understand their current position. At the Colvos Group, we use it as a daily reminder of the importance of knowing exactly where you are. Because even the best travel plan is useless, if it starts from the wrong point of origin. And knowing where you’re supposed to be, is only useful if you actually know your actual location right now.

We believe in regular assessment of “where we are” to make sure we are progressing to the goal, and using the best tools available. Sometimes that can be as modern as the GPS locator on your smartphone and sometimes it can be as proven and well-tested as a sailor’s telescope held at the correct angle to the horizon.

Additionally, one of our founders came from the United States Naval Academy. That had something to do with it too.
